One of many popular materials includes various grades of PVC Foam, which includes a Slow Recovery PVC variant.   Slow Recovery PVC is a closed-cell, low-density foam which has a number of excellent mechanical properties, used widely for sealing and insulation.  Slow Recovery PVC Foam is manufactured and stocked in roll form with a choice of thicknesses between 2mm and 20mm, roll widths of 1 meter or 1.4 meters and rolls lengths of up to 130 meter long depending on the thickness, from which washers can be cut.

Our in-house conversion facilities produce a range of  Slow Recovery PVC Foam Washers that are all made to order and produced using samples or drawings to ensure the final product perfectly fits the application - even offering a small sample run if required.  Depending on the size and quantity of the washers required, our production team will select from our range of atoms, autos, travelling head, kiss cut pressing machines or for very large or thick washers, we can program our CNC (oscillating knife)  to produce the washers in the most efficient way to keep lead times down.

    What are Slow Recovery PVC Foam washers?

    Slow Recovery PVC Foam as the name suggests ‘recovers’ slowly following compression, made up of the same composition as the other PVC foams - PVC and Polyurea compounds, which are combined, heated until the mixture expands and then cured, creating a closed-cell, low-density foam, designed to offer sealing properties against air, dust and liquids. 

    Slow Recovery Foam washers are a flat ring, comprising of an outer diameter (OD), internal diameter (ID) and the thickness, cut or pressed from a sheet or roll of material.  These washers can be placed between two surfaces creating a level surface, to act as a spacer or between nuts and bolts to spread the pressure when tightened and they are also used in a number of vibration dampening, sealing and insulating applications.

    ASG can produce and supply washers made in a range of grades of PVC Foams, Slow Recovery PVC Foam offers many of the desirable properties of other PVC Foam variants which include UV resistance, low-level water absorption, dimensional stability which can be used to construct air, dust and liquids tight seals, which also offers slower recovery following compression.  PVC Foams are lightweight, flame-retardant and durable,  with a Slow  Recovery property making the washers perfect for use as moisture seals or within air filtration systems where there are irregular shaped gaps, pipework or surfaces which will take longer to manipulate to fit into position.

    The reduced recovery time of the material allows washers to be used to create a tight-fitting and secure seal as it allows the user time to manipulate and fit the seal into even the most awkward positions.  Slow Recovery PVC is available in a range of pre-manufactured thicknesses cut down into washers where they are utilised in the automotive, construction, electronics, HVAC and stationery industries.
