Commercial Rubber Washers

Commercial Rubber Washers

At Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd, we provide a wide range of solid rubber washers, including solid commercial rubber washers (SBR). Using high-quality materials and state-of-the-art machinery, our in-house conversion facilities produce washers to exact customer specifications. Each washer is made to order using samples or drawings to ensure a precise fit, and we also offer small sample batches for testing if required.

Depending on the size and quantity of washers required, our production team selects from a variety of machines, including atoms, autos, travelling head, and kiss-cut presses. For larger or thicker washers, we utilise CNC (oscillating knife) programming to manufacture washers efficiently while maintaining high quality, competitive pricing, and minimal lead times.

What are Solid Commercial Rubber Washers?

Solid Commercial Rubber (SBR – styrene-butadiene rubber) is an economical, black-coloured material with excellent wear resistance compared to solid natural rubber. It remains flexible even at low temperatures, making it suitable for a range of general-purpose applications.

SBR compounds can also be blended with other polymers such as neoprene (CR/SBR), EPDM, or nitrile (NBR/SBR) to enhance or introduce additional properties. Solid commercial rubber is available in hardnesses of 60, 65, and 70 Shore A.

Commercial rubber washers are flat rings, defined by an outer diameter (OD), inner diameter (ID), and thickness. They are positioned between two surfaces to create a level interface, act as spacers, or distribute pressure between nuts and bolts. These washers are also used in equipment and machinery to provide abrasion resistance, vibration dampening, sealing, and noise reduction.

    Product Specification & Key Characteristics

Solid commercial rubber washers are typically black, with a working temperature range from -20°C to +70°C. They have a hardness of 60–70 Shore A and exhibit resistance to water, oxidation, acids, alkalis, and gases. SBR washers also provide excellent abrasion resistance. Full technical specifications are available on request or via our online portal.

Why use Solid Commercial Rubber Washers?

SBR washers are a cost-effective, general-purpose solution offering high tensile strength, impact resistance, and flexibility even in low-temperature environments. Their durability makes them ideal for applications requiring reliable cushioning, wear buffers, or impact pads.

While SBR washers offer excellent general-purpose performance, they are not recommended for use with strong chemicals, ozone, concentrated acids, greases, fats, oils, or hydrocarbons. Typical applications include automotive parts, gaskets, seals, production line buffers, and other general-purpose industrial uses.

    Benefits of Commercial Rubber

Commercial rubber washers provide a range of advantages, including:

    • High resilience and tensile strength

    • Effective sealing against air, water, and diluted mixtures

    • Temperature tolerance from -20°C to +70°C

    • Excellent abrasion and impact resistance

    • Readily available and easy to convert

    Grades of Commercial Rubber Available

Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd works with multiple material manufacturers, giving customers a broad selection of SBR and blended commercial rubber grades. These include:

CR/SBR (Neoprene): A blend of neoprene and SBR, offering cost-effective, high-performance properties for gap sealing, dust seals, and outdoor applications. Neoprene SBR provides resistance to oils, grease, dilute acids, and alkalies.

NBR/SBR (Nitrile): A blend of nitrile and SBR suitable for general-purpose gasketing. This grade provides resistance to fuels, petroleum, oils, and solvents, making it ideal for a wide range of industrial applications.

EPDM/SBR: A hybrid of EPDM and SBR, offering excellent resistance to weathering, ozone, and environmental deterioration. EPDM/SBR washers provide high tensile strength and tear resistance, and are commonly used for pipe seals, weather strips, and dust seals.
