Neoprene Rubber Gaskets
Here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets, we offer a range of high-quality gaskets, cut from neoprene rubber, a durable synthetic material often used in sealing applications. As our neoprene rubber gaskets are produced in-house, we can manufacture bespoke items to match our customer's samples/drawings, from a simple picture frame gasket to a more complex shape with cut-outs, notches or bolt holes. Whether it’s a small sample batch or a multi-thousand run, we have a machine designed to quickly and accurately produce perfectly formed gaskets every time.
Our neoprene rubber material is available in a range of standard manufactured thicknesses starting at just 1mm, which can then be laminated to other materials or coated with a sale-adhesive backing prior to the gaskets being cut. Neoprene rubber gaskets are commonly used in external applications as the material has excellent resistance to ageing, ozone and weathering, however other grades are available for more specific industries.
What is a Neoprene Rubber Gasket?
Neoprene which can also be referred to as polychloroprene is a synthetic rubber, black in colour, which possesses good chemical stability and maintains its structure and flexibility when exposed to a wide range of temperatures.
Neoprene rubber gaskets are highly durable as the material holds a high tolerance to extreme weathers and conditions, with good resistance to oil, chemicals and ozone. Neoprene rubber gaskets can be produced in a range of hardnesses from 40°- 70° shore (the shore hardness is measured using a shore durometer which indicates the level of resistance to indentation, the higher number on the scale indicate a greater resistance - harder the material/lower number indicate less resistance- softer the material).
Neoprene rubber gaskets sometimes come in the form of a strip, pad but are generally an intricately cut shaped piece of material placed between two surfaces to create a low-pressure seal preventing the leakage of liquids or gas and to seal against the intrusion of dust and debris.

Gaskets
Here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets, we offer gaskets in an array of materials such as EPDM, Silicone, Solid rubber, Cork, Felt & Textiles, Plastics, Polyethylene, Polyurethane and PVC foam to name just a few.
Gaskets are designed for sealing between 2 or more irregular surfaces, where they prevent leakages once compressed, having the incorrect shape, size or material would cause the gasket to fail, therefore all of our gaskets are made in house with specialised machinery as we understand the final cut and finish of gaskets needs to be perfect.
Why use Neoprene Rubber Gaskets?
Neoprene rubber gaskets have an array of desirable properties which means it can be used within countless applications. Neoprene rubber gaskets have good resistance to chemicals, UV, ozone/weathering and moderate resistance to oils (animal/vegetable) and inorganic salts.
It has a wide working temperature range of -20˚C and 80˚C (depending on grade) and is a strong material with excellent abrasion properties. Neoprene rubber gaskets are a popular choice for outdoor sealing applications and for sealing components within the automotive industry such as window/door seals, pumps, hydraulics and within flanges.
Different Grades
Advanced Seals & Gaskets work with a multitude of material manufacturers and suppliers, giving our customers more choice when designing their neoprene rubber gaskets. Neoprene rubber gaskets can be supplied in a number of grades and hardnesses, some of the main ones being:
(BS2752) British standard 2752 is a higher performing, stronger grade of neoprene rubber which offers a wider working temperature range of -30°C up to +120°C, greater resistance to ageing, weathering, acids, inorganic salts, oils and ozone as well as improved strength and anti-abrasion qualities in comparison to standard neoprene. This grade is available inshore hardnesses of 40°, 50°, 60°, 70° and 80°.
Flame retardant neoprene rubber gaskets can handle continuous temperatures of -30°C to +100°C, this material meets the test requirements of the flammability standard UL94-V0 and is in line with ISO 340. Flame retardant neoprene rubber sheets are also tested in accordance with anti-static BS 490.
Food Quality (FDA) neoprene is white in colour and conforms to EC and FDA regulations for use within the food processing and pharmaceutical industries. Properties including resistance to fats, greases and vegetable oils, combined with higher tensile strength and wider working temperature range of -30°C up to +130°C make it a popular material to use.
Benefits of Neoprene Rubber Gaskets

- Variety of Grades available
- Impermeable to water and dust
- Moderate resistance to oil, chemical greases and fats.
- excellent resistance to ozone, weathering and ageing
Advantages of Using Neoprene Rubber Gaskets
Neoprene rubber gaskets are used in a range of industries thanks to the number of excellent properties and the various grades available.
Neoprene rubber gaskets are utilised where a durable, strong, abrasive material is required in an environment where exposure or sealing against extreme weather, water, salts, oil grease, UV/Ozone and gases is necessary.
Neoprene rubber material is readily available in a range of thicknesses making the process of cutting gaskets a quick process, whilst the strength and tear resistance of the material also allows us to easily and accurately cut gaskets using any of our presses or CNC machines.
