Abrasive Resistant Rubber Washers
Abrasive Resistant Solid Rubber Washers
At Advanced Seals & Gaskets Ltd, we manufacture high-quality washers in a wide range of non-metallic materials, including abrasive-resistant solid rubber washers. Abrasive-resistant rubber is supplied in rolls or sheets, with thicknesses starting from 1.5mm. Rolls measure 1.4 meters wide by 10 meters long and can be cut to produce bespoke solid rubber washers.
All washers are produced in-house using customer samples, drawings, or dimensions to ensure each washer perfectly fits its application. We can even accommodate small sample runs for testing or prototyping.
Depending on the size and quantity of washers required, our production team selects from the atom, auto, travelling head, or kiss-cut presses. For very large or thick washers, we can program CNC (oscillating knife) machinery for efficient production, reducing lead times and costs.
What are Abrasive-Resistant Solid Rubber Washers?
Abrasive-resistant solid rubber is a high-quality natural or synthetic rubber designed to withstand mechanical wear, impact, scraping, grinding, and corrosion. These materials are ideal for physically demanding applications, offering exceptional resilience to abrasion and tear.
A solid rubber washer is a flat ring (Outer Diameter, Inner Diameter, and thickness) cut from sheet or roll material. It is used to create level surfaces, act as a spacer, or distribute pressure under nuts and bolts. Abrasive-resistant rubber washers also provide vibration dampening, sealing, and insulation in machinery and equipment.

Product Specification & Key Characteristics
Abrasive-resistant rubber washers offer a variety of properties depending on material type and grade, including:
- Colours: Black, White, Red, Tan
- Resistances: Abrasion, oil, UV, ozone, heat (varies by grade)
- Hardnesses: Various levels depending on material type
- Temperature: Wide operating range, with certain types suited to extreme highs and lows
Advantages of Using Abrasion-Resistant Rubber Washers
- High resilience to wear and tear in demanding applications
- Protects surfaces from mechanical impact, scraping, grinding, and corrosion
- Cost-effective due to long-lasting durability
- Offers additional properties such as ozone, weathering, UV, oil, and chemical resistance
- Protects moving parts in machinery and equipment from friction or abrasion damage
Why use Abrasive Resistant Solid Rubber Washers?
Abrasion-resistant solid rubber washers are ideal for applications where mechanical wear and friction are everyday occurrences. These washers help retain material shape, reducing the risk of component or product failure, saving on replacement costs, and enhancing product longevity.
Depending on the grade, they can also provide resistance to ozone, weathering, UV, oil, and chemicals, making them suitable for high-stress industrial and manufacturing applications. Abrasion resistance is significant in areas where motion creates friction-induced wear, ensuring superior surface protection.
Different Grades
We offer a wide selection of abrasion-resistant rubber materials, sourced from trusted manufacturers, including:
- Natural Rubber (NR): Strong, mechanically robust, ideal for slurry mixes, silo linings, gaskets, chutes, wear pads, and shot blast screening. Variants include BS1154, red abrasion-resistant, white FDA-approved, and tan shotblast rubber.
- Red Abrasion-Resistant Rubber: Durable NR designed for quarry linings, slurry handling plants, gaskets, sleeves, and tank/silo linings.
- White Abrasion-Resistant Rubber: Softer NR for food processing, chute/hopper liners, and gaskets. Resistant to ketones, organic acids, alcohols, and aldehydes, but not suitable for animal fats, petroleum, or vegetable oils.
- Shotblast (Tan Para) Rubber: Extremely robust NR for chute lining, shotblast cabinets, gaskets, and seals. Resistant to moderate acids and weak chemicals but not solvents or concentrated acids.
- Styrene-Butadiene (SBR): Synthetic rubber suitable for tyres, seals, scraper blades, and impact pads, with excellent abrasion resistance but lower durability for cuts and tears.
- Butyl: Resistant to abrasion, tear, impact, UV, and weathering. Ideal for air/gas retention and tank linings, not recommended for petroleum or chlorinated solvents.
- EPDM: Moderate abrasion resistance, excellent for weathering, ozone, UV, water, heat, and some chemical exposure. Suitable for low to moderate abrasion applications.
- Neoprene (Chloroprene): Good abrasion resistance with oil, weather, ozone, and heat resistance, suitable for sealing in challenging environments, including seawater exposure.
- Nitrile (NBR): Superior abrasion, tear, and compression resistance, excellent for oil, gasoline, hydraulic fluids, and fuels. Ideal for applications requiring oil/grease resistance and moderate ozone resistance.
- Hydrogenated Nitrile (HNBR): Excellent abrasion, chemical, oil, and heat resistance, with improved fuel and ozone resistance compared to standard NBR.
