Shotblast Rubber Washers
Shotblast Rubber Washers
Here at Advanced Seals & Gaskets we cut and supply a diverse range of solid rubber washers, using different material types, some of which are designed for specialist or harsh environments and applications, one such material is solid shotblast rubber, which is specially formulated to offer a high tear strength and excellent abrasion resistance. Solid shotblast rubber is sometimes referred to as Tan Para Rubber which is manufactured in roll form with thicknesses starting at 1mm, from which ASG can cut or press washers. Using high quality material and state of the art machinery, our in-house conversion facilities produce a range of shotblast washers, all made to order and produced by using samples or drawings as a template to ensure the final product perfectly fits the application - even offering a small sample if required for testing. Depending on the size and quantity of washers required, our production team will select from our range of atoms, autos, travelling head presses or for very large or thick washers, we can programme our CNC (oscillating knife) to produce the washers in the most efficient way to keep quality high, whilst keeping costs competitive and lead times as low as possible.

What are Shotblast Rubber Washers?
Solid Shotblast rubber washers are a flat ring comprising of an outer diameter (OD), inner diameter (ID) and the thickness cut from a sheet or roll of material, which is placed between two surfaces creating a level surface, acting as a spacer or between fixtures and fitting such as nuts and bolts to spread the pressure when tightened or to create a better fit for fittings such as screws and bolts. They are also used within equipment and machinery between moving parts for abrasion resistance, vibration dampening, sealing and noise reduction. Solid shotblast rubber (para rubber) is produced using natural latex, creating a ‘tan’ coloured soft rubber material - similar in texture and appearance to material used to manufacture elastic bands. This material has been formulated to have outstanding abrasion and tear resistance, therefore making a very robust washer.
Why use Solid Rubber Washers?
Solid shotblast rubber is often used in very harsh and demanding applications as it is an extremely strong and durable material offering a high tensile strength, excellent resistance to abrasion and tear and a good resistance to weak chemicals, dilute acids and alkalis. It is manufactured in a shore hardness of 45°, has a working temperature of - 40°C to +85°C and is pre-manufactured in a wide range of standard thicknesses. Tan Paras or Shotblast rubber when used as a washer form an effective seal or fitting, even when used in harsh or very abrasive media applications.
Benefits of Using Shotblast Rubber
- Can withstand harsh or abrasive media
- Working Temperature Range: -25°C to +70°C.
- Excellent resistance to abrasion.
- Good strength and durability.
- High elasticity
- Excellent tear strength
Different Types of Shotblast Rubber Available
Black shotblast rubber - manufactured from a black abrasion resistant grade natural rubber. This material, like the Tan variety, is extremely durable with an excellent tear resistance and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +80°C for use within the most demanding construction applications.
Advantages of Using Solid Shotblast Rubber Washers
Using solid Shotblast or Tan Para rubber brings many advantages when used for the production of washers. It is a highly abrasive resistant natural rubber that is available in either tan or black and has a hardness of around 45° to 50° shore depending on the colour taken. Rolls of shotblast rubber are pre-manufactured in a range of thicknesses allowing for quicker lead times for cut washers as the splitting process used with sponge and foams is eliminated. Shotblast rubber washers have a very high abrasion resistance and elasticity, designed for use as shot-blast cabinet seals or gaskets, wear or impact protection, pipe seals and much more.
